Checking local police reports provided today to Z-1570, Bethalto Police investigated an accident on Monday at Culp Lane Park.  The driver, 40 year old Paul Wood of Cottage Hills, was reportedly driving at a high rate of speed on Culp Lane when he lost control of his car, flipped it, crashed through a wooden fence and landed near a walking trail at the park.  Emergency responders had to extricate him from the vehicle and he was airlifted to a St. Louis hospital for treatment.  Wood is suspected of stealing gas from a Casey's gas station in Alton,  and possibly driving without a license, but no formal charges had been filed.

The Madison County Sheriff's Department announced charges of residential burglary against 27 year old Charnisa Goodson of the 700 block of North 76th in East St. Louis and 17 year old Travon Lawrence of the 4400 block of Paddock Pointe in Florissant, Missouri, in connection with a burglary at a home in the 4700 block of Benning in Granite City on September 8.  On September 12, Sheriff's Deputies arrested Goodson and three other suspects who were attempting to flee police out of St. Louis for an allegedly residential burglary.  Also charged are 17 year old Eddie Washington of St. Louis, 18 year old Darien Dampier of Florissant and 19 year old Eddie Bond of Bellefountain Neighbors with theft over.
