In local police reports, Alton Police responded to the report of an injured man outside the Cowboy Market on Central Avenue late Monday morning. Officers, along with Alton Fire Department paramedics, responded after the man told witnesses he was injured when a gas can exploded inside his vehicle. Authorities say it appears the man was injured by something else, possibly a firework, but the investigation continues. No gas can was found at the scene. The van was towed from where the man left it, a short distance away on Pearl Street near Arch Street. The man was taken to a local hospital for treatment to injuries to his hand.
Charges were also filed in Madison County Monday against a Godfrey man who is accused of stabbing another man at a local bar last March. 27-year-old Larry Northcutt of the 300 block of St. Charles in Godfrey, is charged with aggravated battery following the incident on March 21, 2015.
