In local police reports, the Madison County Sheriff’s Department responded to the report of a possible drowning on Sunday afternoon in the 4800 block of Pear Tree Lane in Godfrey.  Upon arrival, deputies found a 3-year-old child that was recovering but had apparently fallen into an in-ground pool and was found unconscious at the bottom of the pool.  Someone at the home performed CPR on the child before paramedics arrived, but was taken to a local hospital for observation and is expected to make a full recovery.  Police determined the incident was an accident and no criminal charges will be filed.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office of Southern Illinois has filed charges of methamphetamine production against a Madison County man.  49-year-old James Lynn Wagner is accused of possession with intent to deliver 50 grams or more of meth in February 2014.  He was indicted in federal court on April 21 and made his initial court appearance last Friday.  He is currently in custody of U.S. Marshals and is awaiting another court date tomorrow.
