In local police reports provided to the Big Z, Alton Police are investigating a multi-vehicle accident on Monday, in which the driver and occupants of one of the vehicles fled the scene.  Alton Police Public Information Officer Emily Hejna tells the Big Z none of the injuries in the accident were considered life threatening, although two people were taken to area hospitals for treatment.  The accident took place around 3:45pm at Stanley Road and Highway 140 with both Alton Police and Fire responding to the scene involving three vehicles.  Witnesses say the driver and occupants of a copper-colored Ford Expedition fled the scene on foot after their vehicle overturned.  Traffic was tied up for about an hour following the accident.

Elsewhere, there was no one new being held during the local checks earlier today.
