In local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, Alton Police searched for a man Monday who is charged with aggravated battery and domestic battery and who prompted a lockdown of the Alton Day Care and Learning Center yesterday morning.  27 year old Jerry Thomas of the 300 block of Mitchell Street in Alton is wanted on the outstanding charges, and police posted an officer outside the daycare as a precaution but said there was no direct threat to the facility. 

Alton Police arrested four people from St. Louis following an incident at Kohl’s on Sunday.  39 year old Greg Howard, 39 year old Louis Vandewaarsenburg, 35 year old Denise Howard and Ronald Dudley were all arrested following a traffic stop on Sunday.  Police allege Greg Howard stole a pair of jeans from the store then got into a waiting vehicle with the other suspects.  All were charged with retail theft and Denise Howard was also wanted on an outstanding warrant from St. Louis County.

Alton Police also responded to the report of a fight on the parking lot of Vera’s Tavern on Oakwood Avenue early Sunday morning, but police did not take anyone into custody or report any injuries as the fight had apparently broken up when they arrived. 

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrested 31 year old Brian Schaake of the 400 block of Spruce in Jerseyville for retail theft from the Godfrey Wal-Mart store.
