Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, Alton Animal Control was called to investigate a dog bite report.  A dog apparently bit an 8 year old girl in the leg at a home in the 400 block of Brookside Tuesday night.  Authorities say the dog's owner held the pit bull terrier until Wednesday morning when it was picked up by Animal Control and held while the case is investigated.  The girl reportedly had surgery on her leg on Wednesday at a hospital in St. Louis.  

The Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested two women following a single vehicle crash in Godfrey early Wednesday.  The driver, 21 year old Alisha Ansell, of the 3900 block of Route 111 in Brighton is charged with DUI-alcohol after police found the vehicle ran off the road and struck a mailbox, fire hydrant, a parked vehicle, then a residence at 7222 Montclair Avenue.  No one inside the residence was injured.  A passenger in the vehicle, 36 year old Sarah Hanebrink of the 20-thousand-500 block of Oak Rest Road in Brighton, was cited for obstructing a peace officer, during the course of the crash investigation.

Lodged in the East Alton jail this morning, 49 year old Toby Thomas of the 700 block of Fairview in Alton, held for unlawful possession of cannabis.

There was no one held by Wood River Police early this morning.
