Checking local police reports provided to Z-1570, Alton Police dealt with an incident Wednesday afternoon near the north side of Gordon Moore Park after reports of several armed people running around in the woods and in open fields. Turns out, the subjects were playing with airsoft guns, which look quite a bit like actual weapons and apparently startled the callers enough to contact police. Several Alton Police officers responded to an area near Stanley Road and Storey Lane late Wednesday morning and attempted to make contact with the men over a loudspeaker. Police report one man eventually walked out of the woods and told officers what they were doing and later two other men emerged from the woods near the Gordon Moore Park north soccer fields with their look-alike M-16's and full military gear. The men spoke to police and were released from the scene and no charges were filed.

Lodged in the Wood River jail this morning, 48 year old Billie Mason of Wood River for disorderly conduct. 22 year old Joshua Self of Highland, held on two outstanding warrants.

There was no one reported held in the East Alton Jail early this morning.
