In local police reports, Alton Police responded to a bicyclist who had been struck by a pick up at Landmarks and Henry Street on Wednesday evening, not far from the Farmer’s Market.  The incident took place just after 5:30pm and ARCH Air Medical Services was called in to transport the victim to a hospital in St. Louis for treatment of serious injuries.  Police did not identify the male victim or the driver of the vehicle.  The accident remains under investigation.

Wood River Police responded to a call of a possible bicyclist struck near the Madison County Health Department on East Edwardsville Road around the same time as the Alton incident on Wednesday evening.  However, police say the child on the bicycle was not struck, but instead had a problem with a tire and fell from the bike and suffered minor injuries.  He was transported from the scene by his parents and it’s unknown if he sought medical care.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Department arrested 20 year old Raymond Cartwright of the 5800 block of Hoxey Drive in Worden for burglary.  He was taken into custody following an investigation into a reported theft at a home in the 9200 block of Church Road in Worden on Tuesday.
