Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, the Madison County Sheriff's Department is asking for the the public's help in identifying possible suspects in connection with a home invasion that was interrupted earlier this week in Godfrey.  Authorities were contacted Tuesday afternoon by a homeowner in the 500 block of East Delmar, who says he apparently spooked the alleged thieves who fled the scene on foot.  Deputies found the suspects forced their way into the residence and were targeting metal items which may have been sold for scrap.  Later Tuesday, at least two of the suspects may have entered a local business and surveillance video footage was used in an attempt to identify the subjects.  Anyone who believes they can identify the possible suspects, can contact Madison County Sheriff's anonymous tip line at 296-3000.

Elsewhere, police in Wood River were holding 29 year old Reilly Belli of Wood River for theft over $500.   32 year old Harold Johnson of Alton, held possession of a controlled substance, a failure to appear warrant, and for operating an uninsured motor vehicle, suspended revoked drivers license and other traffic offenses.

There was no one else new reported held during the other local checks from earlier today.
