Checking local police activity, the Madison County Sheriff's Department arrested 22-year-old Tonisha A. Smith of the 1,300 block of Ferguson Avenue in East St. Louis at the Hope Center Shelter in Cottage Hills on Thursday night, after she allegedly punched her 3-year-old daughter repeatedly in the head. She is charged with aggravated battery to a child.

The Alton Police were holding 23-year-old Anthony L. Spatafora of the 1,700 block of South Rogers for battery and illegal transportation of alcohol; 24


-year-old Nicholas M. Gegg of the 2,900 block of Buena Vista for DUI, reckless driving, and 2 counts of battery; 26-year-old Andrew J. Vassar of the 2,500 block of Della for domestic battery; 47-year-old Anthony Wings of the 700 block N. 25th in East St. Louis for foregy and battery; 53-year-old Mark D. Brooks of the 400 block of Alice Lane in Cottage Hills on warrants; held for public intocication were 26-year-old Wayne E. Stewart of the 2,500 block of Donald, 43-year-old Patrick W. Delp of te 2,700 block of Viewland, 22-year-old Ross C. Crowson of the 100 block of Tara Court, and 45-year-old James Brown of the 1,500 block of Belle Street.

East Alton Police were holding 18-year-old Dalton J. Pratt of the 300 block of Grand on pending charges stemming from a fight.
