Checking area police reports:

Wood River police were holding 23-year-old David A. Sanders of the first block of Manor Drive in Cottage Hills on a charge of retail theft.

In the Alton P-D jail, 58-year-old Thomas Lee of the 300 block of Glover in Alton was being held on a charge of DUI-Alcohol, improper lane usage, and leaving the scene of an accident.
Also held in Alton was 49-year-old Ronald Singleton of the 1300 block of Central in Alton on a charge of improper walking on a highway.

East Alton police reported no one new in their cells during our early morning check.


The Madison County Sheriff's Office report an accident involving two All Terrain Vehicles on Monday evening in the area of Bauer Road near County Lane in Troy has left four injured.  Deputies say the first ATV was being operated by an 11-year-old with a 19-year-old passenger.  The second vehicle, driven by an 18-year-old with a 15-year-old passenger, struck the back of the first ATV when it stopped.  All four were taken to local hospitals with non life threatening injuries.


A felony charge of disorderly conduct has been levied against a 24-year-old East Alton woman for providing false statements or information to investigators who say she claimed to have been the victim of a sexual assault.  Nicole Mitchell, of the 100 block of Cardot Street, told deputies she had provided a ride to a man she met at a bar early last Friday morning.  Mitchell alleged the subject had assaulted her at his home.  The investigators say her claim did not prove valid.  Bond was set at 15-thousand dollars.
