Edwardsville Police have released a sketch of a suspect who is wanted in connection with an attack on a bicyclist on a Madison County bike trail Tuesday. The 18-year-old says she was biking along the Goshen Trail in Edwardsville Tuesday afternoon when a man ran from the woods claiming he needed help for his friend. When the victim got off her bike, she says the man attacked her.
The victim managed to escape without serious injury while the suspect escaped on foot. The attack took place near the 500 block of Kansas Street near the Esic Subdivision. The suspect is described as a thin black male in his late teens, wearing a blue t-shirt, black shorts with a white vertical stripe and also had a drawstring backpack. Police advise any who uses the trails to carry a cell phone in the event emergency assistance is needed. If anyone has information about Tuesday’s incident, or can identify the suspect pictured, they are urged to contact Edwardsville Police at 656-2131.
