A police officer from St. Louis County with ties to the Riverbend has died following a shooting this morning in south St. Louis. 33-year-old Officer Blake Snyder, originally from Godfrey, was shot as he was exiting his vehicle during a traffic stop in the Green Park area of the county. Another officer shot the suspect, who is in serious condition. The second officer was not hurt.
Trenton Forster, of South County, now faces first-degree murder and armed criminal action charges. He was ordered held on $1 million bail. St. Louis County Police Chief Jon Belmar says Snyder was shot and killed at 5:06am while responding to a disturbance call in the 10,700 block of Arnold Drive.
