East Alton Police are asking for help from the public as they investigate a possible child abduction. The incident was reported to police by witnesses who said they saw a teenage boy grabbed by a man and forced kicking and screaming into a van on Tuesday evening.
Officers were notified of the alleged incident not long after it took place near Murray Street and Grand around 5pm Tuesday. The victim is reported to be a white male, 13 or 14 years old, darker hair that was short on the sides and longer on top and was wearing a red polo shirt and blue jean shorts. The reported suspect was described to police as a shorter, older, white male driving a white, utility style painters van with newspapers covering the windows, sliding side doors and double doors on the back. The male reportedly yelled at the child several times before forcing him into the vehicle. Police said they so far have had no reports of missing persons, and anyone with information is asked to call East Alton Police at 259-6212.
