Police in Edwardsville are investigating a disturbing case of animal torture. The incident was discovered last weekend and charges against a group of teens are pending as police attempt to determine who is responsible. Authorities say it appears a group of teens broke into a home to hold a party and while trashing the residence, abused and tortured two family pets.

The homeowner and her son were out of town last weekend, and a neighbor called police when they saw a number of teens that were gathered outside the residence. Police questioned four teens, ages 14 to 17, but so far have not said if any arrests were made. One of the Chihuahuas died as a result of its injuries, including being shot with a BB gun, and fed prescription drugs wrapped in cheese. One of the dogs also reportedly had it's nose almost completely cut off. The second dog is recovering.
