The Special Olympics start this weekend and that means the Illinois State Police are raising money through the annual Torch Run. The torch run started at several points across the state on Monday, and will continue throughout the week on the way to Bloomington - Normal.

Locally, the run began in Fairview Heights, and worked its way through several Madison County communities.  The SIU Edwardsville Police participated, and Police Chief Kevin Schmoll tells The Big Z they are one of hundreds of police agencies statewide to participate in this event.
