The Wood River Police Department currently operates in a small area on the end of the municipal building that also houses the city manager, the clerk's office, and the city council chambers. The days of being crammed into a small space to perform an ever-expanding range of duties is about to come to an end, according to Wood River Mayor Fred Ufert, as the plan is to build a new facility on some land currently owned by BP Amoco.
