The Madison County Sheriff says a large police response to a domestic incident on Saturday afternoon in Godfrey was due to a male suspect who had reportedly threatened to harm himself or others.  Bob Hertz says when police got the call about 3pm Saturday, they assumed the worst until they could confirm what was happening and responded in large numbers to deal with any situation.

Hertz says once on the scene in the 2700 block of Canturbury, officers were better able to assess the threat and how to deal with it:

   



Facebook was buzzing with comments on Saturday evening regarding the incident, with plenty of misinformation being passed off as fact.  The sheriff suggests people know what's going on before they post:

Hertz says no one was injured in the incident, and the suspect who was taken into custody is being evaluated physically and mentally before any charges are considered.
