For the first time in nearly a year, a new group of cadets has graduated from the Illinois State Police Academy. The state police now has 63 new troopers reporting for duty. The class graduated after 25 rigorous weeks of training.

Governor Pat Quinn spoke at their graduation ceremony.

Quinn comments

14 of the new troopers are military veterans. All will spend the next 14 weeks in a mentoring program with seasoned officers.
