Checking local police reports provided this morning to Z-1570, five new people were housed in the Alton jail this morning. Alton Police were holding 34-year old Jesse L. Johnson of the 1010 block Wallace in Alton for criminal trespass to real property. Also in the custody of Alton Police was 44-year old Melissa L. Darr of the 2020 block of Park Avenue in Alton, held for contributing to the criminal delinquency of a minor, 38-year old Freeman Hall of the 210 block of Smith Street in East Alton was held for aggravated battery, 22-year old Chantain J. Davis of the 720 block of Washington Avenue in Alton was held for driving with a suspended license, operating an uninsured motor vehicle and texting while driving, and 24-year old Louis C. Brooks of the 3890 block of Coronado Drive in Alton was held on an outstanding warrant.

The Madison County Sheriff’s Office reports that felony charges have been filed against 32-year old Carl A. Shaver of the 4150 block of Lake Drive in Granite City. Shaver has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance (cocaine) after he allegedly fled from Pontoon Beach Police officers early Monday morning. According to a report from the Sheriff’s Office, Shaver was wanted on two felony warrants and had a small package of cocaine in his possession at the time of his arrest. He was apprehended by Pontoon Beach Police and transferred into the custody of Madison County Police and is being held at the Madison County Jail on a $15,000 bond.
