The Alton business community continues to put its money where its mouth is when it comes to raising funds for the city's new police dog.  The Alton Police Department has raised enough money to purchase a new dog for its K9 Division, so now fund raising effort will concentrate on getting enough money to pay for the "odds and ends."  A poker run this Sunday will help pay for some of those extra expenses.

It starts at Ted's Motorcycle World on Humbert Road and winds around the area for 65 miles before ending at the Cellar Room on Broadway.  Event organizer Dottie Wiley-Short says it's a way to give back.

Many of the expenses relate to training.  For example, a full body suit is needed for the trainer so the dog can practice taking down the bad guys.  Registration at Ted's is between 11am and 1pm, with the run expected to wrap up around 5pm.  It's a dollar a hand, and you don't have to be on a motorcycle to participate.  There will be a silent and a live auction, with items like Rams tickets, gift certificates and small baskets to be raffled off.
