A local group has formed to help bring Rock Spring Park in Alton back to life. While the golf course remains active and Christmas Wonderland brings in thousands of people during the winter, there is a desire to update the park so more residents will enjoy it year round. The topic was featured Monday on Let's Talk on WBGZ Radio.
The group is working on what’s being called the Rock Spring Park Revitalization Project, which is in its early stages. They’ve identified assets, issues and concerns, as well as hopes and dreams for the park. Committee member Greg Gelzinnis says the first action will be clean up dates starting with April 4th and 5th:

Other items that could be addressed this year are the picnic shelters and the ball field. Gelzinnis expects projects will be tackled one at a time as opposed to a large overhaul all at once. The group currently meets monthly on the first Tuesday at 7pm at the Main Street United Methodist Church. If you’d like to offer input, you can simply attend a meeting or call 466-8693 for more information.
