The owners of the Hiway House Motel in Godfrey have told the village’s mayor they plan on making the repairs needed to open their business again.  A couple of weeks ago the village directed the occupants to evacuate the hotel due to what was deemed to be unsafe conditions.  The owners met with Mayor Mike McCormick on Tuesday to discuss what needs to happen going forward.

McCormick tells The Big Z the owners plan to fix the problems in the main building first.

He says there is no timeline on making the repairs at this point, and as long as progress is being made the village will work with them.  As a last resort, the village has expressed a willingness to look at tearing the building down.
