As the investigation in the robbery of North Alton's Laclede Community Credit Union continues, Alton Police released a photo of the suspect, caught on surveillance footage. The robbery happened the afternoon of October 4 about 2:30, demanded money, and then fled on foot. He escaped on foot with an unknown amount of cash. While no weapon was displayed, police say his did imply he was armed.
Police say he entered the bank alone. About a half dozen employees and three customers were in the credit union at the time of the hold up. Police officers responded to the robbery call within minutes and began a search of the surrounding area. A canine officer and police dog were also called in to assist in the search, but the suspect remains on the loose. Authorities described the man as a black male, about 6 feet tall with a thin build, wearing dark colored athletic style pants, a white shirt, a white hat, and dark sunglasses. He was last seen running across the rear parking lot of the business toward Tibbitt Street.
