A national retail chain is apparently close to breaking ground at one of the busiest intersections in Jersey County.  A CVS Pharmacy will apparently be building a new store at the crossroads of Illinois Routes 16 and 67, clearing out most of a block that currently hosts two gas stations and a former tavern.

Mary Heitzig, CEO of the Jersey County Business Association, tells The Big Z demolition work could be starting soon.

She says once construction begins the building could be up fairly quickly.  Heitzig says in other communities where they have built stores, they usually try to locate close to their competitors and vice versa.  There is a fairly new Walgreens pharmacy a third of a mile to the south on U.S. 67.
