The People's Law School begins Monday. The series includes a pair of two-hour programs featuring a variety of law-related topics taught by local licensed and practicing attorneys. The sessions are aimed at increasing awareness of laws and understanding of legal issues, but is not legal advice, according to the organizers.
David Weder, Chairman of the Madison County Bar Association's People's Law School Committee says this is their way of giving back.
Monday's classes will discuss making and defending small claims, and social media. Next Wednesday's topics will include what you need to know in the case of mediation, and gun laws in Illinois. The classes will be held from 7-9 pm, in the Leclaire Room at Lewis & Clark Community College's N.O. Nelson Campus in Edwardsville. Handouts and light refreshments will be provided.
