A 28-year-old Brighton man has been killed after being struck by a train this morning. Richard L. West was pronounced dead at 4:27am Thursday morning of head injuries. The accident happened 1/2 mile north of Main Street.
Brighton Police Chief Lester P. "Pete" Levertt, says the train operators saw West on the tracks.
The Macoupin County Coroner's Office has ruled the death accidental. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Targhetta & Wooldridge Funeral Home in Brighton.
