Pearl Street in Godfrey has been approved for federal money for a complete overhaul.  The announcement came in a meeting at IDOT headquarters in Collinsville Tuesday afternoon, and is part of the FY 2017 - 2020 Transportation Improvement Program.

The total cost is estimated to be just shy of $300,000, of which the federal portion will be about $224,000.  Although work on the road is still several years off, Godfrey Mayor Mike McCormick tells The Big Z this will be a project that improves the safety and the look of the street:

He says once the work is done, Pearl Street will be a brand new road with a sidewalk on one side, and current drainage issues remedied with the addition of curbing.
