Glazebrook Park in Godfrey was a recent target of vandals, causing more than $1,000 in damage. A park worker noticed the damage Tuesday morning and notified police. The vandals threw picnic tables and trash cans into the lake, and damaged some Christmas lights that were recently put in place ahead of the holiday season. No arrests have been made, but police have suspects in mind.

The person, or persons, responsible for the damage this week, also made a mess at the nearby ball fields during the same time period.  Authorities are reportedly looking for a connection with past incidents at the park with middle school students and teenagers who caused problems during the Corn Maze and also back in the summer, with some causing damage with skateboards. Police have not made any arrests, but say they have suspects in mind and continue the investigation. Authorities say deputies were called out early Tuesday in the 5300 block of Brian Drive after a resident heard voices coming from a nearby wooded area. That same wooded area backs up to the park.
