The "paired schools" plan to save money through reorganization in the Alton School District is moving forward.  The Alton School Board approved a contract this week with a moving company to begin moving teachers to their new schools once the school year is over.

The district's Director of Financial Services Chris Norman tells The Big Z that's one of many marks that are being met as moving time nears.

The annual minimum estimated savings using the paired school plan would be $560,000 per year.  Under the plan the schools would be paired as follows:  Lewis and Clark with North, Gilson Brown with West, and Lovejoy and Eunice Smith with East.  The new alignment will begin this fall.
