If you want to take a scenic sunset cruise aboard the Spirit of Peoria paddlewheel boat, cruising the Mississippi & Illinois rivers between Grafton and Alton, your chances are winding down. The Spirit of Peoria is booked for a number of cruises through October 9, but after today's trips, the boat won't be back for nearly a month.

The morning and evening sightseeing cruises between Grafton and Alton have proven to be quite popular, with several selling out.  There are a few more cruises scheduled from Grafton to St. Louis on the Mississippi River and from Grafton to Florence, Illinois on the Illinois River, according to Stephanie Tate, Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau spokesman.

Tate comments

The Spirit of Peoria is a true paddleboat, actually using its paddlewheel for propulsion, unlike some modern riverboats with purely cosmetic wheels.  It routinely travels up and down the Illinois River and Mississippi River.  For more information on the cruises, call 1-800-258-6645, or follow the link at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
