The Spirit of Peoria Paddlewheel Boat will be taking guests on scenic cruises all summer, with a number of trips scheduled between Alton and Grafton. Several cruises are already close to being sold out. Organizers expect the cruises to continue to be very popular, as the opportunity to see the sights from the river gives you a unique perspective, according to Alton Regional Convention and Visitor's Bureau spokesman Jong Cambron.
He says it is one of the only authentic paddlewheelers still cruising the Mississippi. The Spirit of Peoria was designed by architect Alan Bates, and built in 1988 in Paducah, Kentucky. It routinely travels up and down the Illinois River and Mississippi River. For more information on the cruises, call 1-800-258-6645, or follow the link at this story at AltonDailyNews.com.
