The Oriental Garden at Alton's Gordon Moore Park will soon get an injection of funding to help spruce things up. A resolution is expected to be approved at tonight's Alton City Council meeting to establish a special fund for the enhancement and beautification of the garden.
Sadiq Mohyuddin, M.D., was one of the original doctors in the group that launched the garden over 25 years ago.
He also challenged other community organizations to donate to the fund. The plan for the garden was hatched in 1984, and the garden itself was completed in 1989. It is located on the south side of the Park with a walkway over a bridge that goes around the pond and past a waterfall and the Pagoda.
