The Alton Fire Department will be opening the doors of the Don Twitchell Memorial Fire Station on E. 20th Street on Sunday Oct. 7 to the public. The purpose is to invite the citizens of Alton and the entire Riverbend to an open house that the fire chief hopes will be both fun and educational. Bernie Sebold says there will be attendance prizes, fire prevention stations, a smoke crawl, and a display of their equipment.
There will also be free chili, along with hot dogs, chips and soda. Adult activities include a smoke house and CPR/AED Station. The open house Oct. 7 runs from Noon-4pm.
