Police in Champaign are investigating a fatal shooting that took place at a party on the University of Illinois campus early Sunday.  There were actually two shootings early yesterday that claimed one life and injured four others in what police say could be related incidents.

The fatal victim was apparently just walking through the area when a fight that began inside a residence spilled out into the street.  22 year old George Korchev of Mundelein died at the scene, while three others were injured in the shooting that took place on Green Street.  Those injured suffered non-life threatening injuries.  The second shooting was reported about 30 minutes later a few blocks west of the U of I campus and one person suffered a minor injury.  Police are still looking for a suspect or suspects in the case, and have not released information on the nature of the initial fight that lead to the gunfire.  Police are also still looking for witnesses because they say many people fled the first scene when the shooting began.
