An Alton man was shot, killed, and left in the street early yesterday morning. 41-year-old James E. Hubbard of Alton has been identified as the shooting victim. The Alton Police Department responded to a call at around 2am on Saturday that a person had been shot in the 700 block of Oakwood Avenue in Alton. Police located a Hubbard in the roadway upon arrival and confirmed that he was deceased. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis was contacted in regard to the investigation. The case is being investigated as a homicide. More than 25 Major Case Squad investigators from over 20 surrounding police agencies are working to find out what exactly happened with help provided by the Madison County States Attorney's Office. The Major Case Squad of Greater St. Louis is asking anyone with information about this incident to contact the Alton Police Department at 618-463-3505 or St. Louis Regional Crimestoppers at 866-371-TIPS (8477). Crimestoppers is offering up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest of suspects wanted for this homicide.
