A Metro East official has been gunned down in front of his home. Police in the town of Venice, along with Illinois State Police are investigating the shooting death of Street Department Director 56 year old Anthony Matthews. Witnesses say someone fired more than a dozen shots at Matthews before fleeing. The suspect remains at large.

Police say Matthews was apparently leaving his home around 7:30pm Saturday on his way to work another job as outside security at PT's in Brooklyn. The shooter is believed to have fled on foot, then got into a vehicle about a block away from Matthews home. Authorities are offering a $1,000 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person responsible and anyone with information can call CrimeStoppers at 1-866-371-8477.
