A group of volunteers from the North Alton area have made a significant improvement in the appearance of a neighborhood park. Northside Park on Rozier Street has seen declining use for the last several years. With Sunday's clean-up, many believe the park will see a rebirth of sorts.
Alton Park & Recreation Executive Director Mike Haynes tells The Big Z there is more work planned at the park heading into the fall.

As for the city's involvement, Haynes says they hope to make a multi-purpose field that will allow for more baseball, softball and soccer. He says they would also like to take out the old playground equipment and replace it with new equipment in the next year or two.
