An incident last weekend in Alton in which a toddler was hit by a car has brought about an ordinance proposal.  The area of State Street near Olin Park often has cars lining both sides of the roadway, but if an ordinance being introduced at the next City Council meeting is passed, some will have to find other places to leave their car.

First Ward Alderman Jim Ryan tells The Big Z this ordinance would give the no parking zone teeth it doesn’t currently have.

Ryan says people can still park in front of their own homes, just not across the street in front of the park.  The Alton City Council Committee of the Whole will see the ordinance for the first time on August 10th.
