There won’t be any more unexpected “cramming” charges for people who use A-T-and-T, Sprint, and T-Mobile wireless services. Maura Possley, with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, says the companies have agreed to stop billing for third party companies.
Possley says cramming can add big bucks to a cell-phone bill for things like Joke of the Day, Horoscopes, and celebrity news that most people did not request. Attorney General Lisa Madigan has filed 30 lawsuits over the charges in recent years. She says eliminating the extra charges will go a long way toward preventing scammers from illegally profiting on monthly cell phone bills.
