No one was injured in a partial building collapse on Laclede’s Landing Wednesday afternoon. A nearly five-story hole opened up on the side of a building at 612 North Second Street that faces the Eads Bridge. Metrolink service was disrupted system-wide for several hours as the line across the bridge was closed.
About 20 workers were in a meeting on the third floor when the floor started shaking, so they evacuated using a staircase on the opposite side of the building. The structure houses several offices and the Drunken Fish restaurant. The building is closed and engineers are expected to examine the damage today.
