The economy is starting to bounce back in Alton according to one city official. Progress is being made on a building that will house an AT&T store on Homer Adams Parkway in front of Shop 'n Save but Alton Building and Zoning Code Inspector Mike Harvey says that is just one of the many projects underway.
He says Alton Memorial Hospital is working on their obstetrics wing and that there is also plenty of activity to report at Alton Square Mall, including the addition of a Ross Dress For Less store.

The permits for those stores at Alton Square amount to roughly $950,000, however, Harvey says a timetable for the completion of those projects hasn’t been released.
