A call has been put out for people to help fill and stack sandbags in St. Charles County, Missouri today. There's an area between West Alton and Portage Des Sioux where the Mississippi River is close to topping the levee and help is needed to cover some low points along the earthen dam this afternoon.
Craig Sondker of Broadway Fish and Outdoor Trading Company says with the recent forecast, they should be OK, but if it comes up just a little, they could be in trouble:

Sondker says volunteers should following Highway 67 to Highway 94 as if you were driving to Portage, and follow the detour signs until you see the volunteers.
