Cindi Canary is singing a new tune, but she wants about 300,000 more friends to join the chorus.
Canary, founder and former leader of the Illinois Campaign for Political Reform, is now in charge of a drive to change the redistricting process in the state. This would be for the state House and Senate and, if her campaign is successful, let voters decide in November 2016.

Canary says a commission, not a computer, would redraw the maps.
“This is a bipartisan problem, so it is a nonpartisan solution,” Canary says. “We have seen some good examples in other states, which have appointed citizens' commissions.”
