The Wood River City Council may have found a way to eliminate down time. The first and third Mondays of each month are set aside for council meetings at 7:30, with the pre-meeting at 7pm. Oftentimes, there is a gap in between the time the pre-meeting ends and the council begins.

Mayor Fred Ufert (pictured) says the new year will see the council meetings begin immediately following the conclusion of the pre-meeting.

Ufert comments

The pre-meeting can be described as an opportunity for department heads to share information, and residents and business interests to express concerns. first meeting of the new year will be on Tuesday, January 3, since January 2 is the official government holiday celebrating the New Year.
