A new chancellor has been selected to lead the SIU-Edwardsville campus. Dr. Julie Furst-Bowe was introduced Thursday to succeed the retiring Vaughn Vandegriff. The SIU Board of Trustees is expected to make the hiring official at its meeting May 10, but a search committee put its stamp of approval on the hiring of Furst-Bowe, with her appearance on the campus yesterday.

Furst-Bowe says she is looking forward to getting to know as many people as possible at SIUE over the coming months:

The university received 40 applications for the position and they narrowed the search to 9 candidates and brought 4 finalists to the school for on campus interviews. Furst-Bowe comes to SIUE by way of Wisconsin, where she is currently provost and vice chancellor for academic and student affairs at the University of Wisconsin-Stout. She will take over her new position on July 2.
