With the election of Associate Judge Kyle Napp to circuit judge last month, a vacancy was created in the Third Judicial Circuit, which serves Madison and Bond Counties. Any United States citizen, who is licensed to practice law in the State of Illinois, and a resident of the Third Judicial Circuit may seek appointment to the Office of Associate Judge. Chief Judge Ann Callis believes there are many qualified candidates who will apply.
That would be the number of candidates who normally apply when there is a vacancy. She says vacancies don't happen very often, but often enough, anyone interested in applying should be familiar with the process. Applications are due to the Director of the Administrative Office of the Illinois Courts by 5pm on January 7.
