Motorists using Highway 67 north of Godfrey are utilizing some new lanes of the highway as work on the corridor moves along. The Illinois Department of Transportation shifted northbound traffic to the so-called "fly-over" bridge this week as scheduled, with the end in sight for the project to connect 67 and Highway 255 sometime in the spring of 2013.
The work on Corridor 67 just north of Godfrey remains ahead of schedule, according to IDOT. Engineer Joe Gasaway explains what drivers will see:
Gasaway says at the same time, crews are repairing the road problem on 255 near the Seminary Road exit and should have the road open to Humbert sometime next month.
