Earlier this year the city was awarded a grant through the East-West Gateway Council of Governments to pay for intersection improvements, including the addition of turn lanes on the north and south side of the park at Illinois Route 140 at the existing intersection.  That work may not start for another year or so.  The new intersection, according to Haynes, will be built near the playground to the west of the existing entrance.
