Construction on a new driving range could start within the next few weeks at Belk Park Golf Course according to the Wood River Park and Recreation Director. Jason Woody addressed the City Council earlier this week to discuss the matter and express his desire to move forward with the project. After a short discussion Woody was given the green light to proceed with the $17-thousand project, which will be paid for by the golf course.
Woody says this will be a great addition to the course.
The original plan called for the project to be done by workers from the public works department but Woody says they will hire a contractor instead. The project has been awarded to Shaefer Morgan and Woody says that the new range could be ready for use by late August.
